Check out all the weekend action

Blackheath 30 (Tries: Aseme, Allen, Boyle. Cons: McCashin 3. Pens: McCashin 3.)

Doncaster 0 (.)

Not quite sure what to make of this result as Blackheath inflicted only Doncaster’s second defeat of the season and stopped them scoring in the process as well.

Steve McCashin kicked a couple of early penalty goals to give the home side a 6-0 lead in the opening nine minutes. Then the back row pair of Ken Aseme and David Allen touched down for tries and with McCashin converting both they were 20-0 ahead after 33 minutes and they took that lead into the break.

In the second half it took 25 minutes for the score to change with McCashin putting over a third penalty goal. The win was wrapped up on 80 minutes when centre Jonathan Boyle scored the third Blackheath try and McCashin added the extras.

Esher 52 (Tries: Cormack, Moore 2, Clouston, Penalty try, Defty, O’Reilly. Cons: Hallett 4. Pens: Hallett 3.)

Launceston 12 (Tries: Lacey, Burnett. Con: Perry.)

Esher are safe in National Two for another season after this emphatic win over Launceston.

Neil Hallett gave them a fourth minute lead with a penalty goal and they got the first of their seven tries when NCA play of the Month Duncan Cormack went over for an 11th minute try which Hallett converted for 10-0. Two tries in two minutes put Esher in control with wing Matt Moore and centre Toby Clouston touching down in the 27tth and 28th minutes and with Hallett again on target they were 24-0 ahead. They were awarded a penalty try on 34 minutes and with Hallett doing the necessary they went in 31-0 ahead at the break and game won.

Launceston did get the first score of the second half with winger Martin Lacey touching down but two Hallett penalty goals in two minutes saw Esher go 37-7 ahead.

Three more tries saw the home side go into a 52-7 lead after 66 minutes as Moore completed a double. Launceston did manage the final score of the match but by then Esher were home and dry and looking forward to another season in National Two.

Wharfedale made sure they could not possibly go down with the win over Bracknell who now find themselves second bottom dropping two places after both Harrogate and Nuneaton won at the weekend.
