Rugby Lions 37 (Tries: Hyslop 2, Goode, Douglas, Kaminsa. Cons: Bond 3. Pens: Bond 2.)
Rugby Lions knew they needed to win this one to have any chance of escaping the drop into Midlands One, they did what they could winning this one but with both Cleckheaton and Blaydon also winning they are relegated to Midlands One.
They scored two first half tires to establish a 15-3 half time lead with centres Matt Goode and Ricky Hyslop touching down and Glen Bond adding five points with the boot.
Bond added another penalty and then left wing Andrew Kaminsa got the third try for 23-3.
Flanker Jamie Rudkin got a try back for Bedford and Chris Richards added to his first half penalty goal with a conversion. Hyslop secured the bonus point with his second try and Bond converted, for a 30-10 lead.
Both sides scored further tries but with the results elsewhere it did not matter as Rugby Lions were relegated.

Blaydon 27 (Tries: Hall 2, Kilburn, Marwick. Cons: Clappison 2. Pen: Clappison.)
New Brighton 12 (Tries: Dean, Tuihalamaka. Con: Birley.)
Blaydon took the point they needed to avoid the drop with this home win over New Brighton. They did the damage in the first half opening up a 22-0 lead with hooker Matt Hall bagging a brace of tries and centre Peter Kilburn getting the other whilst Dan Clappison kicked a couple of conversions and a penalty goal.
In the second half Blaydon were first to score on the hour mark when flanker Dave Marwick touched down and the one point they needed was in the bag. New Brighton did score two late tries but the match was already won by then and Blaydon had the win and the points.
Cleckheaton 41 (Tries: Jones 3, Benton, Doherty, Dudley. Cons: Boyd 4. Pen: Boyd.)
Tynedale 6 (Pens: Massey 2.)
Cleckheaton had a job to do and did it to run out comfortable winners scoring seven tries in the process to secure their National League status for another season.
Will Massey put the visitors ahead with a penalty in the opening minute but seven minutes later and the home side were in front with flanker Geoff Jones touching down. Massey kicked a second penalty goal on 25 minutes to put the North East side back in front.
Cleckheaton went ahead again on 32 minutes with scrum half Scott Benton touching down and Glenn Boyd converting.
In the eight minute of the second half they extended their lead with wing Mark Doherty going over the Tynedale line and when a few minutes later Jones got his second try the home side had the bonus point in the bag and were 24-6 ahead. .
They were to run in three more tries to complete the win with Jones completing a hat trick and survival was secured.
Darlington 31 (Tries: R Snowball, Snook, P Lee. Cons: Kell 2. Pens: Kell 4.)
Kendal 25 (Tries: J Ladell 2, Nicholson. Cons: Stephens 2. Pens: Stephens 2.)
Darlington maintained their excellent home record with this win over Kendal and move above them in the league table into eighth place. .
Kendal made a good start and went 10-0 ahead in the opening five minutes with Dan Stephens kicking a penalty goal and then converting a John Ladell try. David Kell pulled three points back for the home side before the boot of Stephens added another three points.
Before the break Darlington did manage to get over the Kendal line with lock Richard Snowball touching down for an unconverted try.
Kell added a second penalty goal a minute into the second half and when he converted a try from Ben Snook two minutes later Darlington were 18-13 ahead. On 55 minutes they went further ahead with fly half Paul Lee touching down and Kell again converting for 25-13.
Kendal responded two minutes later with wing John Ladell going in for his 19th try of the season and with Stephens adding the extras they were five points behind the home side and still over 20 minutes to play.
Kell added a third penalty goal on 66 minutes but when replacement front row man Jon Nicholson touched down on 72 minutes it was a three point game. Kell had the last word with a 77th minute penalty goal to seal the win.
Dudley Kingswinford 28 (Tries: Gowland, McLellan, Knight. Cons: McLellan 2. Pens: McLellan 3.)
Fylde 17 (Tries: Hughes, Hanley, King. Con: Green.)
Dudley made it three wins in a row and four unbeaten with this excellent home success over Fylde.
The first half saw the home side build up a 20-0 lead with tries form left wing Ian Gowland, his 11th of the season, and full back Andrew McLellan who also converted them both and slotted over a couple of penalty goals.
Wing matt Hughes did manage to pull a try back for Fylde seven minutes into the second half before the home side scored their third try through No 8 Peter Knight, McLellan missed the conversion but did add a penalty in the 66th minute to make it 28-5 to DK>
Fylde did manage a couple of late tries but DK were all ready home and dry and finish the season on a positive note despite relegation.
Halifax 36 (Tries: Jessiman 2, Emmerson, A Luteru, Penalty try. Cons: Canning 4. Pen: Canning.)
Darlington Mowden Park 38 (Tries: Richardson, Phelan, Bedworth, Shaw 2. Cons: Bedworth 4, Breen. Pen: Bedworth.)
With DMP in form and the home side missing their influential overseas pair of Douglas Sanft and Robert Afoa Peterson this was always going to be a difficult match against a DMP side which has improved of late especially with the return of Mark Bedworth.
It was Bedworth who gave the home side the lead with a 10th minute penalty goal and five minutes later he was converting a try form scrum half Shaun Richardson.
Halifax were off the mark five minutes later when centre Craig Emmerson touched down and Aaron Canning converted and then slotted over a penalty goal to level it up. The home side went ahead on 39 minutes when full back Anzac Luteru went over for a try. It was DMP though who led at the break with an injury time try from left wing Peter Phelan which Bedworth converted.
They extended that lead in the third quarter to pull 31-15 ahead with tries form Bedworth and fly half Martin Shaw which were both converted by Bedworth.
Halifax though came storming back with tries form David Jessiman and a penalty try which were both converted by Canning as they trailed by two points.
The visitors went back into a nine point lead with a try form Shaw and this time replacement Michael Breen converted with Bedworth off the field.
Halifax were not finished and scored a fifth try six minutes into injury time and Canning converted but they ran out of time and finally lost their unbeaten record in the league this season.
Macclesfield 18 (Tries: Coulbeck, Howcroft. Con: Newell. Pens: Newell 2)
Bradford & Bingley 26 (Tries: Brits, Tafa. Cons: T Rhodes 2. Pens: T Rhodes 4.)
Bradford & Bingley won at Macclesfield in a match with nothing at stake with runners up spot already in the bag for the home side.
In the first half Tom Rhodes kicked a couple of penalties for the Bees whilst the home side went in ahead with Michael Newell kicking a penalty goal and full back Ben Coulbeck going over for a try to lead 8-6.
In the second half the Bees were ahead two minutes in when prop Rudi Brits went over for a try and Rhodes converted. In the 55th minute the visitors went 20-8 ahead with right wing Lisiate Tafa crossing the home line and Rhodes again on target. In the 60th minute Newell pulled three points back but Rhodes cancelled that out with a penalty of his own on 63 minutes.
On 66 minutes the home side got within five when centre Anthony Howcroft went over for a try and Newell converted but Rhodes had the final say with his fourth penalty goal on 80 minutes. |
