Cambridge moved to the top of London One on the final day of the season after this 71 point success over Basingstoke which saw them finish the season with a better points difference than Worthing. .
By half time they had run up a 40-3 lead with full back Mike Campbell completing a hat trick to move onto 20 tries for the season.
Five more tries in the third quarter saw them move ahead of Worthing who were struggling in the third quarter of their match. They finished with 14 tries in the end with Campbell getting a fourth and there were doubles for wingers Tavela Kwilimbe and Sam Alatini and flanker Monty Pienaar which Tom Dann converted 13 of the 14 tries.

London Scottish took the win and finished in 4th spot, this first time they have failed to get promotion since they started their climb back up the league ladder.
Centre Josh Heke got the home side on the scoreboard in the 11th minute with a try. Jason Kidd replied for the visitors with a penalty goal but before the break the home side went in for another try with full back Mike Fraser touching down and adding the conversion for 12-3. Fraser added a penalty goal early in the second half and when he slotted over a second on 48 minutes they were clear at 18-3.
Before the hour mark they extended their lead with scrum half Jon Pardoe going over and Fraser converted. London Nigerian did manage another score with scrum half Gabriel Odediran going over and Kidd converted.
Old Colfeians 15 (Tries: Hurley, Miller. Con: Burton. DG: Muldoon.)

Richmond confirmed third place with this away win at Old Colfeians on the final day of the league season. .
Andy Lee put the visitors ahead on 18 minutes with a penalty goal before they scored two tries with wing Arthur Irving and centre Ben Leigh touching down and Lee adding a conversion for 15-0. Just before the break the home side crossed the Richmond line with wing Nick Miller scoring.
Lee added another penalty goal but in the 66th minute the home side were right back in it when full back Gavin Hurley went in for a try and with flanker Peter Burton converting they were just 18-12 down.
In the 74th minute Richmond moved 13 points clear with a try form hooker James Whitfield and Lee converted.
Old Colfeians did manage another score with an injury time drop goal from winger Jamie Muldoon.

Bishops Stortford moved back up to seventh place with this away win at already relegated Sutton & Epsom running in seven tries and they were all converted by Stuart Haslam. .
There were double for wingers Grant Farrow and Nick Harris with the backs dominating the scoring. Two of the other three tries came form the back with the half back Haslam and Lee Dickinson also crossing the home line, whilst the only forward on the try list was flanker Alex Colenso.
Sutton did manage four tries themselves and Sam Frost slotted over four penalty goals as well but it was not enough as they ended the season with a 17th defeat as they suffered their first ever relegation in league rugby.

Thanet nearly went out with a bang after staging a great come back before losing out right at the end. In the first half Old Albanians dominated at nearly a point a minute opening up a 33-0 lead in the opening 35 minutes before Thanet finally got off the mark with a try from scrum half Slabbert and converted by Gareth Redmond. The visitors ran in five tries in that first half spell with Muna Ebongalame completing a double and Ed Orchard converting four of them.
In the second half two tries in the opening eight minutes got the home side back in it with tries form Slabbert again and hooker Clement both were converted by Redmond before he was forced off through injury. But just after the hour and the visitors went over the home line with second row Pavitt touching down.
Thanet though were not deterred and with No 8 Letts touching down and Neil Roby converting and slotting over a penalty goal there was just seven points in it.
Orchard though gave the visitors some breathing space and it was a good job he did as Thanet got a fifth try as Letts completed a double and Roby converted to make it a three point game but they ran out of time and signed off their London One stay with a defeat, just.

Worthing ran in 11 tries as they tried to make sure they did just a little more than Cambridge in the race for the London One title but with Cambridge running in 14 tries and winning by 81 points, compared to the 62 by Worthing, who took the title and left Worthing to play Bridgwater & Albion in a play off for National League status next season.
Rowan O’Gorman led the way again with another four tries to top the try scorers list in the division with 25 tries whilst there were doubles for hooker Simon Alcott and left wing Gavin Stephens. By half time they had built up a 38-0 lead but were stopped in the third quarter adding just one more in that 20 minute period although they did finish strongly with four more tries in the final quarter. |
