Comprehensive win for AK as they finish the season in a highly creditable 8th place after looking in serious trouble for a few months.

They ran in eight tries with winger Joel Petite bagging a brace to reach double figures for the season.

For a while the result looked in doubt with Vale taking the lead on 45 minutes when centre Tyrone Sourer went in for a try, his 9th of the season to finish leading try scorer for the club, and with Stuart Blackburn converting they were 17-14 ahead. AK took the lead again four minutes later but a strong final quarter saw them run in five tries to nearly reach the half century mark.  

 

Birkenhead Park 27 (Tries: Clarke 2, Oliver, Saverimutto. Cons: Hart. Pen: Davis.) 

Preston Grasshoppers 54 (Tries: Bleasedale 3, McKenna 2, Fitzgerald. Cons: M Lough 4, Peterson, Morton.) 

Hoppers finished of their season with an away win at Birkenhead Park The first half saw the home side still in it with Hoppers 21-13 ahead thanks a brace of tries form scrum half Bleasdeale whilst prop Steve Clarke bagged a brace for the home side. .  

In the second half the visitors pulled a head with three unanswered tries to go into a 40-13 win on the hour mark with Bleasedale completing a hat trick.

They went further ahead before the home side got a couple back before full back Owen McKenna sealed the win in the 80 minute with his second try of the afternoon.

    

Hull 34 (Tries: Sanders 2, Ma’ake, Higginson, D Smith. Cons: Martinson, Kendra 2. Pen: Martinson.) 

Middlesbrough 15 (Tries: Fingland, Little. Con: Moore. Pen: Baggett.) 

Hull finished with a home win to finish on a positive after a couple of disappointing results recently.

Middlesbrough took an early lead with a Baggett penalty goal which Martinson cancelled out in the 10th minute. Hull then scored two tries through No 8 Sanders and flanker Ma’ake which with Martinson converting one of them saw the home side lead 15-3 but the visitors stayed in the game with a try from flanker Fingland before the break.

In the second half it took till the 70th minute for the score to change wit the home side going 22-8 ahead with a second try from Sanders converted by Chris Kendra with Martinson off the field.

Middlesbrough refused to go away and scored another try with scrum half Little touching down and Moore converted to get back to a seven point deficit.

Hull finished the match off late on with flanker Higginson and Danny Smith, his 17th of the season, getting tries to see the home side pull ahead 34-15 to secure the win.     

 

Liverpool St Helens 13 (Try: Hull. Con: Worsley. Pens: Worsley 2.) 

Hull Ionians 55 (Tries: Aspinall 4, Rice, Eves, Acton, Cahill, Boden. Cons: Jasnikowski 5.) 

Hull Ionians secured the play off place with this comprehensive win at Liverpool St Helens running in nine tries by the end after establishing a 17-6 half time lead.  

Scrum half Mark Aspinall bagged four tries and moved to joint top of the try scorers list with 17 tries along with Hull wing Danny Smith and West Park Full back Mark Turner.

Mark Jasnikowski converted five of the tries and took his total for the season to 192 which is second overall behind Hoppers Paul Bailey.

Both sides had a couple of players Yellow carded as they added six second half tries to the three they scored in the opening 40 minutes.

This weekend they have home advantage over Midlands One runners up Kettering in the battle to go up to the National Leagues.

 

Morley 17 (Tries: S Bradshaw, K Bradshaw, Chippendale. Con: Stephens.) 

Chester 31 (Tries: Parsley, Green 2, Brookes 2. Cons: Verbickas 3.) 

In a tight match which Morley looked like winning going into the final 10 minutes Chester came through strongly for the win.  

The first half was a tight affair with the visitors edging it 12-10 with both sides scoring a couple of tries the only difference was a Simon Verbickas conversion.

In the second half Morley took the lead in the 54th minute with winger Karl Bradshaw going over and this time Colin Stephens converted for 17-12.

It took till the 74th minute for the next score as Chester took the lead with winger Simon Green getting his second try of the match and Verbickas converted for 19-17.

A late double form right wing Ian Brookes saw the visitors home with something to spare.

    

Sheffield 13 (Try: Joel. Con: Burgess. Pens: Burgess 2.) 

West Park St Helens 46 (Tries: Wilson 2, McGeough 2, Williams, Bonetti, Turner, Briers. Cons: Soutar 2, McGeough.) 

West Park finished the season in a  excellent fourth spot thanks to this away win at bottom of the table Sheffield who went down to their 21st defeat of the season. .

Park were running at a try a minutes early on as they built up a 22-0 lead after 23 minutes with four tries, three form their backs and one from No 8 Mark Williams.

Burgess pulled six points back with a couple of penalty goals but on half time the visitors got a fifth try through hooker Bonetti to go in 27-6 ahead.

In the second half Sheffield went over the Park line but three late tries saw the visitors home to fourth spot on points difference form Chester.
