Harrogate got the win they needed to avoid the drop into National Three North with this away win at Waterloo who finished fourth in the table.

The visitors got the perfect start and were 12-0 up in five minutes with tries form centre Jamie Barker and wing Steve Parsons and Lee Cholewa added a conversion.

Waterloo were on the scoreboard in the 11th minute with full back Freeman Payne going over for a try and Neil Hunter converted. The visitors though got their third try on the 14th minute with flanker Michael Hills touching down and Cholewa converted for 19-7.

Scrum half Craig Aikman kept the home side in it with a try on 27th minute and again Hunter converted but just before the sides went in at half time Harrogate got the fourth try with second row Matt Challinor touching down and with Cholewa again on target they went in 26-14 ahead.

Four minutes into the second half and it was game on with flanker Njike Tchakoute crossing the Harrogate line and Hunter converted. Harrogate responded quickly with centre Matt Duncombe getting a try five minutes later Cholewa converted and slotted over penalty goals in the 61st and 66th minutes to put Harrogate into a strong position 39-21. Waterloo did manage another try but the game was already Harrogate’s as was National Two League rugby for next season.

Nuneaton 37 (Tries: Jonker 2, Williams, Brocklehurst. Cons: Cull 4. Pens: Cull 3.)

Stourbridge 31 (Tries: Hughes, Horrobin, Jones, Hubbleday. Cons: Jones. Pen: Jones.)

Nuneaton’s brave effort to avoid the drop came to an end on Saturday, they did what they needed to do but with Harrogate winning at Waterloo they finished third bottom and their two season stay in National Two comes to an end.

Nuneaton started strongly and were 31-0 up in 33 minutes running in four tries with scrum half Morne Jonker bagging a brace, Gareth Cull converted all four tries after getting things moving with an early penalty goal.

The visitors got a second try just after the break with No 8 Julian Horrobin touching down and Jones again converted. Cull put over a couple of penalty goals to take the home side 37-14 clear.

Stourbridge got tries in the 76th and 78th minutes to narrow the gap with Jones converting them both as they secured the bonus point. Jones then added a late penalty goal to secure another bonus points for losing by seven or less.

Bracknell 35 (Tries: Budge 3, Nemecek, Legge. Cons: Peel 2. Pen: Frost, Peel.)

Blackheath 14 (Tries: McCashin, Trace. Cons: McCashin 2.)

Bracknell knew they had to win this match and hope the two sides above them both lose, they did their bit but with both Harrogate and Nuneaton both winning they were relegated.

They got off the mark in the 13th minute with Andrew Frost putting over a penalty goal before having to go off injured. They got a try in the 19th minute when left wing David Budge went over and Stuart Peel converted. Steve McCashin got the visitors off the mark with a try two minutes later and added the conversion. They sealed the win in the third quarter with Peel adding a penalty goal and then second row Miroslav Nemecek going over and Peel converted for 25-7. They got two more tries with Budge completing a hat trick and prop Simon Legge getting a rare try.

Wharfedale 28 (Tries: Baggett, Davies, Malherbe, Hutchinson. Cons: Davies 4.)

Second placed Newbury finished the season with a win but were pushed all the way by Wharfedale coming through by a single point.

Newbury looked on their way to a big win as they went into a 19-0 lead in the opening 29 minutes with tries form wing Ken Bingham, centre Duncan Bell and fly half Dave Harvey who also added a couple of conversion.

By half time Wharfedale had got right back into the game with two converted tries from centre Andrew Baggett and full back Jonathan Davies, who converted them both to make it a four point game at the break.

Esher 15 (Tries: Bennett, Moore. Con: Hallett. Pen: Hallett.)

Not sure what impact Esher securing their National Two status had on this match as they were thrashed by Manchester at Grove Lane with the home side running in 10 tries.

They scored five tries in each half with left wing Dave Wood leading the way with a hat trick, one in the first half and two in the second half.

Winger Lucas Onyango picked up just the one try and took his total to 24 to finish four clear of Doncaster winger Donovan van Vuuren.

Launceston 27 (Tries: Morris, Burnett, Olima 2. Cons: Stenhouse 2. Pen: Stenhouse.)

Rosslyn Park 21 (Tries: Harlock, Hayes, Paul. Cons: Gunn 3.)

Launceston finished the season off with a home win over bottom of the table Rosslyn Park and secured the four try bonus point.

The home side were on the scoreboard in the 6th minute when centre Dan Morris went over for the opening try but it took the home side half an hour to add to that when second row Nick Burnett went over and they went in 10-0 ahead at the break.

Eight minutes into the second half and Park were over the home line with left wing Nick Harlock scoring and Lewis Gunn converted.

The Cornish All Blacks responded well with wing Martin Olima touching down and Richard Stenhouse converted. Park took four minutes to make it a three point game again with second row James Hayes touching down and Gunn again converting.

Just a minute later and Olima was over for a second try, and the bonus point, and Stenhouse again converted.

We had to wait 10 minutes for the next try and Park refused to buckle and looked to finish the season on a positive note with centre Anthony Paul going over and Gunn converting.

Launceston did manage another score with Stenhouse putting over a penalty goal to give the home side a six point win.
