Terrace Talk - National Two

Check out our previews and predictions of this weekends matches in National Two.

Bracknell v Lydney

No win if five after a positive start to the season see Bracknell down to ninth place now and desperate to get back to winnings way and with home advantage against Lydney they will see this as the perfect opportunity to change things.

Lydney will be looking to build on last weeks first win of the season and take advantage of Bracknell’s loss of form.

Lydney have got to increase their fire power as they have managed just nine tries so far this season in eight league matches and can be over reliant on the boot of Adam Westall who is not getting as many penalty opportunity’s as he did last season when Lydney were on the offensive more often in games.

Team news

Prediction: Lydney to just fail to make it back-to-back wins.

Doncaster v Esher

With five straight wins Doncaster are up there as one of the form sides in the division and have risen to fourth spot in the league table.

Esher on the other hand are going through a dreadful spell at present and find themselves second bottom with just three points. They have lost the last four league matches and will be hard pushed to get anything out of this match.

Last weekend they had contrasting fortunes with Doncaster running out large winners at Newbury whilst Esher were losing at home to Rugby Lions.

Team news

Prediction: Form side Doncaster will make it six in a row with 12 point win.

Harrogate v Newbury

On current form this is not the match that Newbury want at this stage of the season. Harrogate turned in a superb performance away at Rosslyn Park last Saturday whilst the visitors were losing heavily at home to Doncaster. Have rattled up an impressive 43 tries in their eight league matches and nobody else has passed 30 yet whilst Newbury have scored just 17.

After an early season win at Esher Newbury have lost their other three matches on the road and need a dramatic turnaround if they are going to get anything out of this match.

Team news

Prediction: Comfortable home win by 20 points plus.

Nuneaton v Rosslyn Park

Nuneaton are one place above Rosslyn Park in the league table in 10th place two points clear of them and a better points differential.

Last Saturday Nuneaton went down to a defeat at Lydney at the Forest of Dean side picked up their first league win of the season. Nuneaton actually out scored them three tries too two but were punished for their ill discipline as Adam Westall kicked six penalty goals to take the home side to victory. Park were also beaten last Saturday, they were on the end of a big home defeat at the hands of the in form and impressive Harrogate who are second in the table.

Park on the road this season have lost all four but will remember that last time they were away they pushed Doncaster all the way going down by a single point.

Nuneaton at home have won just once when they thrashed Rugby Lions in a Friday night match under lights.

In the tries conceded stakes Park have conceded 29 tries whilst Nuneaton have let in 11 fewer and played less games at home and have let in just the one try in the opening quarter.

Team news

Prediction: Narrow home win by less than seven.

Rugby Lions v Nottingham

Rugby Lions are up to eighth place after their excellent away win at Esher last week and remain two points behind Nottingham who were home victors over Stourbridge.

Nottingham are the draw specialists and have two finished all square in their last six matches in which time they have been beaten just the once.

Rugby’s win last week meant they had won back to back for the first time since April 2002 and have won three of their last four.

Nottingham have a much tighter defence and have conceded 21 tries against the 34 Rugby have let in. In the offence it is Rugby who have the edge, narrowly with 25 tries, three more than the visitors.

Team news

Prediction: Lions to make it a hat trick of wins, when was the last time they did that??

Sedgley Park v Wharfedale

This will be the Wharfedale defence against the Sedgley Park attack. The visitors have the meanest defence in the division and have conceded just 116 points and just 13 tries, which are both the lowest figures in the division. In the attack stakes Park have scored 90 points more than Wharfedale and ran in 29 tries compared to the 16 by the visitors.

Park remained unbeaten last week with a narrow away success at Moseley whilst Wharfedale were easy winners in the end over Bracknell after a first half, which saw the visitors just edging it 8-7.

Team news

Prediction: Park to keep winning run going by 10 points.

Stourbridge v Moseley

5th placed Stourbridge entertain 7th placed Moseley in a league match for the first time ever and an away win by eight points would see the visitors move above them in the league table.

Stourbridge saw their four match winning run come to an end last Saturday at Nottingham in a narrow three point loss. Moseley on the other hand also lost but managed to give leaders Sedgley Park a game before going down to a seven point loss. Whilst Moseley have not been one of the highest scorers in the division they have had one of the tightest defences with just 138 points conceded, a record better only by Wharfedale and Sedgley Park. What they need to do is score more tries as to date they have managed just 13 and only bottom of the table Lydney have scored fewer.

Team news

Prediction: Home win by less than 10.
