Terrace Talk - National One

Check out our weekly previews and predictions ahead of the weekends games.

Bristol v Orrell

Orrell are now playing for second place and are being pushed all the way by the Pertemps Bees so will be looking for all five points to stay clear of the Midlands side in this away clash against the Bristol Shoguns.

Bristol have done well at home this season with five wins in eight matches at the Memorial Ground, but this may prove a difficult home match to win and Orrell will start as favourites.

When the sides met at Edge Hall Road earlier in the season Orrell were less than convincing winners 29-21.

Team news:

Prediction:  Orrell to get back to form with two score win.

Exeter v Bedford Blues

Exeter Chiefs with four wins in their last six matches have shown some improvement of late and are up to eighth in the league table and although beaten last weekend they gave second placed Orrell a real run for their money.

They entertain Bedford this week who have dropped of a bit recently with back to back defeat and just two wins in their last six matches.

The Blues were convincing 47-24 winners when the sides met at Goldington Road earlier in the season.

Team news:

Prediction:  Exeter’s improved form to continue with home win.

Penzance & Newlyn v Otley

The Pirates go into this home match against Otley looking for a third win in four matches as they look to continue to try and get away from the relegation zone. Last Saturday they had an important away success at Coventry which saw them move out of the bottom two and the are now level on points with Henley and two points behind Wakefield.

When the sides met at Cross Green earlier in the season Otley ran out comfortable winners 33-6.

Team news:

Prediction:  The pirates to build on last weeks win with narrow five point win.

Pertemps Bees v Coventry

The Bees will be looking to continue their good recent winning run which has seen them narrow the gap on second placed Orrell to just a point now.

Coventry on the other hand are going through a dreadful run and have lost five in a row and last Saturday went down at Coundon Road to relegation rivals Penzance & Newlyn who moved above them in the table and push them down into a relegation place.

When the sides met earlier in the season at Counden Road it was the Bees who left with the points after a 39-13 victory.

Team news:

Prediction:  Comfortable Bees win by 14 points.

Plymouth Albion v London Welsh

Plymouth Albion are one of the form sides in National One at present and go into the game looking for a fifth straight success against a London Welsh side in 9th place. The Welsh were beaten at home last Saturday by Worcester but prior to that had won four on the bounce to move well clear of the clubs fighting to avoid relegation.

Albion are looking to do the double over the Welsh having already won 35-27 at Old Deer Park.

Team news:

Prediction: Albion to continue excellent recent run with 15 point win.

Wakefield v Henley Hawks

This is a huge game at the wrong end of the National One league table with both these two sides in the relegation battle. Wakefield ended a dreadful 12 match losing streak last Saturday at Manchester and will be looking for back to back wins to try and move further clear of the relegation places.

On the road this season Henley have managed just the two wins to date with victories at Manchester and Coventry, the bottom two sides in the table currently.

Wakefield go into this match looking to do the double over the Hawks having won 26-24 at Dry Leas earlier in the season.

Team news:

Prediction: Home win less than five points.

Worcester v Manchester

Top takes on bottom at Sixways and although in Football Wolves beat Manchester United recently there is no chance of it happening here.

Worcester are on a mission for Promotion to the Premiership and have been relentless of late and Manchester can expect a tough afternoon having already lost all eight of their away matches this season.

When the sides met at Grove Park earlier in the season Worcester left with all five points after a thumping 56-3 victory.

Team news:

Prediction: Home win by 30 points plus.
