Terrace Talk - National Three South

Check out our weekly previews and predictions ahead of this weekends matches.

Barking v Haywards Heath

Barking returned two winning ways at Dings a couple of weeks ago to half a three match losing run and will be looking to extend the winning run at home to Haywards Heath. The visitors have won three of their last five league matches and are three points clear of the relegation zone so another win would do their cause a world of good.

When the sides met at Haywards Heath earlier in the season Barking were convincing winners 37-5.

Barking have though lost four times at home this season so Haywards Heath will be hoping they have another off day at Gorsebrook this Saturday.

Team news:

Prediction: Home win by less than ten points for Barking.

Basingstoke v Southend

Amazingly Basingstoke are going for a fourth straight win in this home fixture against Southend who have lost their last two matches.

Basingstoke are now off the bottom of the table but would realistically need to win five if not all six of their remaining matches to avoid the drop down back into Powergen Midlands One.

When the sides met earlier in the season Southend were comprehensive 54-17 winners but will not find it as easy this time round.

Team news:

Prediction: Tough to call this one but will go away win less than ten points but could well be wrong.

Launceston v Dings Crusaders

Launceston are looking for back-to-back wins having beaten Dings last week in a rearranged match. It was enough to take them to the top of the table and with Blackheath having what looks a difficult trip to North Walsham Launceston will be keen to boost their points difference with home advantage.

Dings need to get a run together if they are to escape relegation but this may not be the match to start doing that in although they have picked up three wins on their travels including an excellent wins at Tabard and Weston super Mare.

Team news:

Prediction: 30 point win for Launceston as they look for back to back wins against Dings.

North Walsham v Blackheath

Must win game for Blackheath otherwise they are staring at a play off against the runners up in National Three North. They are level on points with Launceston but the Cornish side have a match in hand and if Blackheath go down here and Launceston beat Dings they would need Launceston to lose twice in their last six matches.

North Walsham have an excellent home record with nine wins from their ten matches and only Launceston have left with both points this season.

Blackheath have lost three times on the road this season in nine matches to date.

Team news:

Prediction: Blackheath under pressure to win by less than seven points.

Old Patesians v Weston super Mare

Old Pats were winners when the sides met at Weston earlier in the season 16-8 and are going for the double. Weston have been through a bad spell recently and slipped to five successive defeats but still lie in sixth place in the table.

Old Pats have lost their last two and will be keen to return to winning ways and will see this as the game to do so in.

Team news:

Prediction: Old Pats to do the double over Weston with 10 point win.

Redruth v Tabard

Fifth placed Redruth will be strong favourites for this game as they have shown some excellent form at home this season and already beaten North Walsham, Blackheath and Barking and suffered just the one defeat with Weston super Mare leaving with the points.

Tabard have slipped of late and are looking to avoid a sixth straight loss in the league and away from home have picked up four wins in six matches. .

When the sides met at Cobham Hill Tabard were 34-17 winners but will find this a much harder match.

Team news:

Prediction: Redruth to continue good home form with two score victory.

Westcombe Park v Old Colfeians

After a poor run of defeats Westcombe Park have put together back-to-back wins and will looking for three in a row on Saturday when they entertain Old Colfeians.

Old Colfeians are having a poor run at present and go into the match with five successive defeats behind them.

When the sides met at Horn Park earlier in the season Park were comfortable winners 35-18.

At home this season Westcombe Park have a 50/50 record with five wins and five defeats from their ten matches, Old Colfeians on the road have managed just the one success winning at Dings Crusaders early in the season.

Team news:

Prediction: Westcombe Park to take the points with 14-point win.
