In at the Corner - National Two

Check out all the action from the weekend.

Nottingham 29 (Tries: Jackson, Hammond, S Moore, B Coles, Starling. Cons: Stenhouse 2.)

Newbury 5 (Try: Armstrong.)

Nottingham find themselves three points clear on third placed Nuneaton after this win and promotion looking on the cards.

It took the home side 22 minutes to get on the scoreboard with right wing David Jackson getting the opening try on 22 minutes. Four minutes later they doubled their lead when second row Craig Hammond went over for a try. Prop Sam Moore got the third Nottingham try on 31 minutes and this time Neil Stenhouse converted for a 17-0 half time lead.

In the second half debutante replacement back Brendan Coles went over on 51 minutes and the final Nottingham try came on 63 minutes when centre Neil Starling went over and Stenhouse converted for 29-0.

Newbury scored a consolation try through fly half Mark Armstrong.

Sedgley Park 10 (Try: Fourie. Con: Ueckermann. Pen: Ueckermann.)

Nuneaton 3 (Pen: Peacock.)

A step nearer promotion for Park as they defeat one of their key rivals at Park Lane

It was Nuneaton who took the lead when Jody Peacock put over an 18th minute penalty goal.

The home side though took the lead just before the break with Player coach/No 8 Tim Fourie going over for a try and Ryno Ueckermann converted for a 7-3 lead. They extended the lead three minutes into injury time in from Ueckermann.

The second half was scoreless as Park took two vital points and left Nuneaton with it all to do in third place.

Rugby Lions 13 (Tries: Brittin, Mitchell. Pen: Rahui.)

Doncaster 22 (Tries: Yates, Briggs, Greenslade. Cons: Liley. Pen: Liley.)

Doncaster needed to win to have a mathematical chance of still sneaking promotion although they will need some strange results for this to happen.

Rugby on the other hand remain in the relegation zone although with it so tight at the bottom they could still escape the drop.

Doncaster were in front on eight minutes through centre Chris Yates and Rob Liley added the conversion. Rugby got on the scoreboard when Terry Rahui slotted over a penalty goal. Rob Liley put over a penalty for the visitors on 27 minutes and two minutes later converted a try from winger Richard Briggs and Doncaster were 17-3 ahead.

Doncaster were first on the scoreboard again in the second half with scrum half Simon Greenslade going over for a 19 point lead.

Rugby did the remaining scoring in the match with tries from hooker Jason Britton and full back Alan Mitchell but it was the visitors who took the points.

Moseley 17 (Try: Aston. Pens: Nutt 4.)

Rosslyn Park 3 (Pen: Howard.)

This match could well prove to be the defining match of the season for both sides with both going into it thinking they can take the points as they look to avoid the drop.

Moseley in the first half with the wind behind them were 9-0 ahead after 40 minutes with three Stephen Nutt penalty goals, but would it be enough with the wind against in the second half.

Moseley though extended their lead six minutes into the second period when talented winger James Aston got an interception try and Moseley were 14-0 ahead.

In the remainder of the half Sam Howard and Nutt exchanged penalty goals as Moseley took two vital points and move up to 10th place in the table.

Stourbridge 25 (Tries: Bressington 2, James. Cons: Hughes 2. Pens: Hughes 2.)

Harrogate 19 (Tries: Barker 2, Tapster. Cons: Cholewa 2.)

Good win for Stourbridge who join Harrogate on 22 points with this home success.

The home side went 6-0 ahead with penalties in the 10th and 16th minutes before they got the games first try on 18 minutes with hooker Dan James crossing the line and Hughes converting for 13-0. They went 20-0 ahead when right wing Nathan Bressington went over for his 14th try of the season and Hughes again converted for 20-0.

Before half time left wing James Tapster went over for a try to go in 15 points adrift.

Five minutes into the second half centre Jamie Barker got the second try for the visitors and Lee Cholewa knocked over the conversion.

Bressington completed a double on 65 minutes to give the home side a 13 point lead. Harrogate did get the final score when Barker completed a double and joined Bressington on 15 tries for the season.

Wharfedale 35 (Tries: Malherbe 2, Oldfield 2, Baggett. Cons: pears 2. Pens: Pears 2.)

Lydney 3 (Pen: Westall.)

Wharfedale look like finishing fifth after this home success over bottom of the table Lydney as they are four points behind fourth placed Doncaster and four points clear of sixth placed Harrogate.

Centre Andrew Baggett got the opening try of the match on 25 minutes to put the home side ahead and Pears converted for a 7-0 lead. Adam Westall put the visitors on the scoreboard with a 36th minute penalty goal.

In the second half Pears slotted over a couple of early penalty goal to take the home side 13-3 ahead.
