Terrace Talk - National Three South

Check out our weekly previews and predictions.

National Three South

Basingstoke v Barking

After the last round of matches you would have to go with Basingstoke but it is not quite as simple as that. Basingstoke severely dented the Championship ambitions of Launceston with a 26-10 home success. Barking were on the end of a heavy home defeat going down 50-0 to Blackheath despite still being in it at half time when they were just 8-0 down.

Basingstoke have picked up recently with four wins in their last six matches and are sixth in the Form Guide.

Barking are looking to avoid a third straight loss in a season which started so brightly but has fell away in the second half of the season.

Team news:

Prediction:  After the last round of matches go with home win by less than 10 points.

Dings Crusaders v Redruth

Fourth placed Redruth travel to relegation threatened Dings Crusaders looking to try and catch third placed North Walsham and they go in great form as they top the Form Guide with six consecutive wins.

Dings have got to win at least two of their last three matches and hope that either Tabard or Haywards Heath draw a blank in their three remaining games.

When the sides met earlier in the season Redruth were 32-20 winners and will be confident of completing the double this weekend.

Team news:

Prediction: Away win by 14 points or more.

Launceston v Westcombe Park

Nothing but a big win will do for Launceston as they entertain Westcombe Park at Polson Bridge.

They went down to a shock defeat last time out losing 26-10 at Basingstoke and lost top spot in the National Three South league table after Blackheath thrashed Barking away from home.

Park will be no pushover with four wins in their last five matches which has seen them rise up to eighth place in the table after a bad mid season when they slipped down the league.

Launceston are going for the double of Park having won there 25-9 early in the season.

Team news:

Prediction:  Home win by 14 points or more.

Old Colfeians v North Walsham

Third placed North Walsham travel to bottom of the table Old Colfeians looking for a win to keep fourth placed Redruth at bay in the battle for third place.

Old Colfeians are playing for pride now as they are already relegated and will hope not to leak as many points as they did last week in the re arranged match at Old Patesians last Saturday.

When the sides met at Scottow early in the season North Walsham came out on top 44-18 after a strong fourth quarter.

Team news:

Prediction:  Away win for North Walsham by 20 points.

Southend v Old Patesians

Interesting match to call this one as sixth placed Old Patesians travel to seventh placed Southend who they moved above in the league table after their 67-8 home win over Old Colfeians last weekend.

Old Pats go into the match looking for a fourth straight win whilst Southend will be looking to return to inning ways after a loss last time out which ended a two match winning run.

Old Pats have done well on the road this season and a win here would see them have the third best away record in the division.

When these two met early in the season Southend came away with the points in a high scoring match 44-37.

Team news:

Prediction:  Tough to call but will go with away win by 10 points.

Tabard v Haywards Heath

Both sides desperate for a win to remove any doubts of relegation, they are both on 18 points, three clear of Dings Crusaders who are in the third relegation place.

Haywards Heath won last time out to move above Tabard on points difference.

Tabard have now lost their last nine league matches and need to stop the rot as they look to do the double over Haywards Heath.

They were 22-20 winners after trailing 20-0 at half time to the home side and staged a great second half recovery.

Haywards Heath have not fared to well on the road this season and have picked up just three wins from their 11 road trips to date.

Team news:

Prediction: On current form go with away win by 12 points.

Weston super Mare v Blackheath

Leaders Blackheath travel to Weston super Mare looking for a win to stay ahead of Launceston in the league table on points difference.

Weston can be dangerous on their own patch and are capable of a shock result but they are up against a Blackheath side who now have their Championship chances are in their own hands and are looking for a fifth consecutive win.

Weston though are not in good form and have now lost eight in a row and slipped down to ninth in the league table.

Team news:

Prediction: Blackheath to win by 20 points and remain top of the table.
