Three minutes later and flanker Martin Anayi went over for the games opening try and the reliable boot of Pugh was again on target. Second row Tim Collier went over the Coventry line in the 32nd minute and again Pugh added the extras. Manchester 18 (Tries: Richmond 3. Pen: Brown.)

Pertemps Bees 18 (Tries: R Sigley, Baxter. Con: Woodrow. Pens: Woodrow 2.)

Excellent performance by Manchester to pick up a draw against one of the better sides in National One and but for a late Pertemps Bees try they could well have won.

Hero of the day was New Zealand winger Isaac Richmond with a hat trick of tries.

Manchester were first on the scoreboard when Stuart Brown kicked a penalty goal but the Bees responded well and prop Terry Sigley went over from a line out move and with Mark Woodrow converting they were 7-3 ahead. Richmond ran in two tries before half time to give the home side a 13-7 lead at the break.

Woodrow added a couple of penalty goals to draw the visitors level but a third Richmond try gave the home side the advantage which they held until the final minute.

Nick Baxter went over for the Bees to level the scores but they were unable to add the conversion and it was honours even.

Bedford Blues 17 (Tries: Brady, Price. Cons: Hepher, Whetstone. Pen: Hepher.)

Binns added a penalty on 72 minutes to give the home side a 20-10 advantage. The game was safe a minute later when replacement back Leroy Rivett went in for a try and this time Ian Shuttleworth added the conversion for a 17-point lead.

Four minutes into the second half and the visitors were back in front with the other centre Ala Fatialofa went over for a try and Scrivener converted for 24-17. Fie minutes later Murphy narrowed the gap with a penalty before they took the lead again with scrum half Andy Brown scoring a 53rd minute and Murphy added the extras and in the 58th minute they went 35-24 ahead with flanker Glen Wilson going over for a try. Murphy took the home side further clear with a 73rd minute try but the Pirates scored a late try to secure two bonus points for four tries and a loss by seven or less.
