Doncaster continue their good recent run with this home success over Stourbridge.
Doncaster dominated the first half and built up a 17-0 lead. Rob Liley gave the home side a 7th minute lead with a penalty goal. Doncaster got the first try of the game on 24 minutes when full back Nick Wakley went over and Liley converted for a 10-0 lead.
Flanker Rob Ward got the second try on 33 minutes and with Liley converting they were 17-0 ahead.
Doncaster went further ahead in the second row when Liley went over for a try, which he converted for 24-0.
The visitors got on the scoreboard on 62 minutes when No 8 Julian Horrobin crossed the home line. 10 minutes later fly half Duncan Hughes got the second Stourbridge try and Ben Harvey, coming on as a replacement after a spell out injures, slotted over the conversion.
The home side then had scrum half Simon Greenslade red carded for a punch and within two minutes Stourbridge were within five points of the home side after right wing Nathan Bressington went over for his 16th try of the season and Harvey again converted.
Liley then made the game safe with an injury time penalty goal and took his total for the match up to 17 points.
Harrogate 12 (Tries: Gabriel, Cook. Con: Cholewa.)
Sedgley Park 26 (Tries: Voortman, De Jager, McCormack. Con: Ueckermann. Pens: Ueckermann 3.)
Park kept a point clear of Nottingham in the chasse for the National Two title with an away win at Harrogate.
Park took an early lead with a Ryno Ueckermann penalty on three minutes and two minutes later scored the games first try when centre Ian Voortman went over but Ueckermann failed to convert and they were 8-0 ahead. Park got a second try on 16 minutes when scrum half Dave McCormack went over for another unconverted try and a 13-0 lead.
Prop Paul Gabriel got the home side on the scoreboard on 25 minutes with a try, which Lee Cholewa concerted, but before the break Ueckermann added a second penalty for a 16-7 lead at half time.
Two minutes into the second half Ueckermann added a third penalty to keep the scoreboard ticking over. They put the game out of sight on 65 minutes when full back Arno De Jager went over and Ueckermann converted it for a 26-7 lead.
Harrogate had the final say with a consolation try on 79 minutes with No 8 Oliver Cook scoring.
Lydney 8 (Try: Davis. Pen: Westall.)
Moseley 37 (Tries: Aston, Witkowski, Vivian, Thomas. Cons: McDonald 3, Thomas. Pens: McDonald 2, Thomas.)
Moseley are all but safe now after this away win at Lydney. The home side were on the scoreboard first with Adam Westall slotting over a 16th minute penalty goal. Moseley took the lead towards the end of the first half with a try from prop Kevin Witkowski which was converted by converted by Greg McDonald.
They went further ahead three minutes into the second half with winger James Aston going over for his 16th try of the season and again McDonald converted and added a penalty a few minutes later for a 17-3 lead.
Two further tries saw the visitors move further ahead and McDonald one of them before replacement Oliver Thomas got in on the act with the final try which he also converted as Moseley went 34-3 ahead.
Julian Davis got a late try for the home side but Thomas had the final say with an injury time penalty goal. .
Newbury 22 (Tries: Walters, Leadbetter, Holloway. Cons: Armstrong 2. Pen: Armstrong.)
Esher 18 (Tries: Gregory, R Jennings. Con: Wessels. Pens: Wessels 2.)
Both these two sides are safe unless we have some very strange results as Newbury beat Esher at Monks Lane.
The home side went ahead on six minutes with flanker Luke Walters crossing the visitors line and Mark Armstrong converted for a 7-0 lead. Three minutes later Emile Wessels slotted over a penalty goal to get Esher off the mark. The visitors went ahead when left wing Piers Gregory went over and Wessels converted.
Before the break Armstrong missed a couple of penalties to draw the home side level.
Nine minutes into the second half full back Gary Leadbetter went over and Armstrong converted for a 14-10 lead. This became 9-10 five minutes later when right wing Tom Holloway went over but this time Armstrong could not convert.
Just a minute later though and Esher were over the home line with centre Ross Jennings going over but Wessels was unable to convert. He did add a penalty on 75 minutes to get Esher within a point of Newbury but Armstrong slotted one over on 80 minutes to seal the win and give Newbury two vital points.
Nuneaton 39 (Tries: Hands 2, Prosser Shaw, Peacock, Glackin, Dutton. Cons: Peacock 3. Pen: Peacock)
Wharfedale 17 (Tries: Wade, Hutchinson, Malherbe. Con: Pears.)
Nuneaton were winners again yesterday with a comprehensive win over Wharfedale although they are more than likely to have to settle for third place in National Two.
The home side were ahead on eight minutes when Jody Peacock slotted over a penalty goal but a spell of four tries in 15 minutes turned the game late in the first half to build up a 27-0 lead. Flanker Tristan Prosser Shaw got the first try on 24 minutes and Peacock converted. Winger Jordan Hands bagged a brace with tries in the 29th and 33rd minutes. The final try of the half came from Peacock, who also added a couple of conversions.
Wharfedale were on the scoreboard 12 minutes into the half when replacement back row man Ben Wade went over.
Nuneaton though responded well and ran in two more tries to go 39-5 ahead with fly half Peter Glackin and centre Craig Dutton scoring tries. The visitors scored two late tries in the 79th minutes and then deep into injury time.
Rosslyn Park 25 (Tries: Noble, Wardingley, Hayes, Cure. Con: Howard. Pen: Howard.)
Nottingham 36 (Tries: Kay 2, Cook, Jackson, Starling. Cons: Stenhouse 4. Pen: Stenhouse.)
Park gave it their all knowing they needed to win to have any realistic chance of avoiding the drop but they could not pull it off and Nottingham keep the pressure on Sedgley Park at the top of the table.
Park started well and were over the Nottingham line in the 9th minute through right wing Patrick Noble and a 5-0 lead. Nottingham responded with a penalty goal on 14 minutes but Park went 10-3 ahead on 22 minutes. They got a second try through the other winger Neil Wardingley but again it went unconverted, With half time approaching Sam Howard did slot over a penalty goal and they looked to be going in 13-3 ahead. Three minutes into injury time though Nottingham were right back into it when centre Alan Cook went over and Stenhouse converted to change the match.
Park though were quickest out of the blocks in the second half when second row James Hayes went over and Howard converted for 20-10.
Nottingham then responded to take control with a run of three tries in 14 minutes with Josh Kay bagging a double and full back David Jackson getting one in between and with Stenhouse converting two of them they were 29-20 ahead after 65 minutes.
Park were back in it on 67 minutes when prop James Cure went over for an unconverted try to get back within four points.
The game was settled when centre Neil Starling, the son of David Starling a former Park play, scored in injury time and again Stenhouse converted.
Rugby Lions 15 (Tries: Reed 2. Con: Rahui. Pen: Rahui.)
Bracknell 20 (Tries: Turvey, Shipway. Cons: Hallett 2. Pen: Hallett.)
Must win game for Rugby, which went the wrong way with Bracknell snatching the win with a late penalty goal to leave Rugby in serious trouble at the wrong end of the table.
The home side took the lead on 13 minutes with winger Phil Reed going over and Terry Rahui converting for a 7-0 lead.
Bracknell were level on 25 minutes when scrum half Craig Turvey went over and Neal Hallett converted and that was how it stayed till half time.
The visitors went ahead on 46 minutes with No 8 Chris Shipway going over and Hallett converted.
Rugby responded quickly when Reed went over for a second try on 52 minutes but this time Rahui could not convert. He did though take the home side ahead with a 64th minute penalty goal for a one point 15-14 win.
Hallett though gave Bracknell the points with a 76th minute penalty goal leaving the Lions having to win their final two games to have a chance of fighting of relegation but it looks bleak. |
