COACH of the MONTH
Kingsley Jones – Doncaster
After an awful start o the season Doncaster Director of rugby has seen his charges respond superbly and are now sitting in fourth place in National Two.
Since the turn of the year they have picked up nine wins form 12 matches with all the three sides above them in the table managing to beat them. They were always playing catch up after losing their opening three matches of the season.
With the way they are finishing this season Jones seems set up for an even better season in 2004/05, his second season of coaching.
PLAYER of the MONTH
Duncan Hughes – Stourbridge
Stourbridge fly half, 32 year old Duncan Hughes, picks up the March NCA Player of the Month for National Two. The former Worcester and Bedford utility back had an excellent month and also had to take over the kicking duties
He joined Stourbridge in time for the 2000/01 season and has made an big impact since then.
In 2,000-01 he scored 15 tries which equalled Kevin Hickey’s record for tries in a league season and scored 224 points which was also a club league record at the time.
And was a major factor in the clubs’ promotion at the end of the season.
He has played 94 games in the 4 seasons he has been with the club out of a total of 101; thus only missing just 7 games.
Last week he scored his 400th league point, only the third player to do so for the club.
He Captained the side in 2002-3 and 2003-4 and is a very experienced, Good tactical brain, stocky and powerful, lovely hands, good boot, strong personality.
KICKER of the MONTH
Emile Wessels – Esher
The Namibian World Cup star picks up the award for the second successive month with his kicking been important to Esher’s upturn in form and escape from the relegation zone.
