The Gartmore Challenge - England v Barbarians

The Gartmore Challenge - England v. Barbarians, Sunday 1st June 2008
Twickenham Stadium

Come to Twickenham to watch England's final home match of the season against the mighty Barbarians on Sunday 1st June at 3pm.

The season finale promises to be a star studded affair with England in action against the famous Barbarians.  The showdown between England and the Barbarians will be the Barbarian Football Club’s 750th fixture since it was founded in 1890.

This is the last chance for fans to watch England play before they go on tour to New Zealand - your next chance to see them on home turf isn't until November in the Autumn Internationals.

England team news:

An exciting line-up of England stars will take on the Barbarians.

The match takes place the day before England head to New Zealand for their summer tour and the Saxons travel to Canada for the Barclays Churchill Cup.

RFU Elite Rugby Director and team manager for England's New Zealand tour Rob Andrew said: “All of the players going on tours apart from the Guinness Premiership finalists will be available for selection against the Barbarians which is an exciting prospect.

“The match will be a massive occasion and will give the players a chance to perform against world-class opposition before they set off on their summer tours.”

Barbarians team news:

The Barbarians played at Twickenham in December 2007 with an all star line up including Jason Robinson, Jerry Collins and Conrad Smith.

The following players have been invited to play for the Barbarians against England:

Schalk Burger, Fourie du Preez, Gareth Thomas, Stephen Larkham, Chris Latham, Felipe Contepomi, Ollie le Roux, Sebastien Chabal, Regan King.

Tickets are on sale now from just £25 (juniors from just £10) from ticketmaster.co.uk
