The RFUW recently appointed a part-time Press and Public Relations Officer to see them through their 2002 World Cup campaign. Julie Potter, a former England rugby international who now specialises in writing about women’s sports, will be working under the umbrella of Vision Sports PR to look after the Team England Press and PR between now and the end of the women’s World Cup in May 2002.
“I’ve been involved in women’s rugby since 1986,” explains Julie. “About seven years ago I started writing for magazines like Rugby Monthly and Inside Rugby, and I was the founding editor of the RFUW’s quarterly official magazine Lineout. I became a full-time journalist in 1999 when I launched the women’s section for the website www.scrum.com. I only hung up my boots last year and it’s a great pleasure to be given this opportunity to carry on working within the RFUW and with England women’s rugby in a professional capacity.”
