Sevens Rugby

That Friday Feeling

DTZ is supporting England’s bid to win Rugby 7s gold at the 2002 Commonwealth Games by temporarily releasing retail surveyor, Mike Friday, to work as the team’s assistant coach. Mike has coached the team through the early stages of the IRB World Sevens Series and their first ever win in Hong Kong. DTZ has a rich rugby heritage with glittering alumni including Rob Andrew, Marcus Rose and Chris Oti.

Mike Friday joined DTZ in 1994 combining his job with his position as a scrum-half with London Wasps. He made his debut for the England Sevens in 1996 and captained England in the Commonwealth Games in 1998 and the 2001 World Cup held in Argentina. He is now the assistant coach alongside coach Joe Lydon. Mike will help coach the team for the remainder of the IRB series and the Commonwealth Games in Manchester.

His association with sport is also to the fore at DTZ where his clients include Leicester City Football Club (where he advised on the sale of the club’s Filbert Street ground) and AMEC Developments (advising on the Sport City project in Manchester, one of the Commonwealth Games venues).

He is also involved with other leisure clients, assessing development opportunities for GRA Limited (greyhound racetracks), which is a member of Wembley Plc, Leapfrog Day Nurseries and Cannons Health Clubs, whilst remaining involved in other retail development work for Lattice Properties and Legal & General.
