Twickenham Accolade

At this year’s Leonard Cheshire Enabled Awards, the RFU won the sports industry category, presented by Jane Asher. The awards, run in association with MITIE Group plc, are unique in that they are nominated and judged exclusively by disabled people. They are designed to recognise individuals, groups or organisations that help disabled people fulfil their ambitions and reach their full potential.

The RFU, nominated by Jacqueline Bramley and David Mead from Seven Springs Cheshire Home, won the award for special care for the needs of disabled fans.
Said David Mead, “The RFU has been fantastically generous and it makes every effort to ensure that the disabled supporters of the game have the necessary facilities to enjoy all the matches played at Twickenham.”

Said RFU Commercial Director, Paul Vaughan, “We pride ourselves on ensuring we have the best facilities for all rugby supporters with disabled spectators of particular importance to us. We believe that it is essential to meet the needs of this very special group of people.”
