The University of Leicester 1st XV Men’s Rugby Union team clinched a thrilling last minute win against their De Montfort University rivals at Welford Road recently when more than 4000 spectators celebrated the University of Leicester’s 80th anniversary.

Leading 9-0 at half time, the scores were levelled by De Montfort with just minutes to go but a back line move from the University of Leicester resulted in a kick forward with the Leicester winger winning the race to ground the ball behind the opposition try line. The crowd cheered the Leicester team on as they defended their lead in the dying seconds.
