“We are a huge sporting nation and when we really want to get behind something we do. I want everyone at Twickenham on their feet going mad, it makes a massive difference. I love the fireworks, the build up. The players want to come out to a real spectacle. At the moment Twickenham is just fantastic. It’s a real theatre, setting the scene for the kick off. I think what the people are doing behind the scenes is brilliant, the fireworks, the karaoke. My eldest child was there enjoying the karaoke in the car park.
“It’s not just the 80 minutes, it’s the whole experience. We should be able to guarantee a great day for everyone coming to Twickenham. People behind the scenes are working very hard and it is moving forward. Coming to Twickenham now is a great day out.”
A recent survey of spectators at Twickenham internationals showed 84.5% approved of the overall build up and entertainment, while only 5.4% thought fireworks shouldn’t be used. In order to ensure smoke clears before kick off the pyrotechnics have accompanied the teams running out rather than going off after the anthems. |
