Highland Spring puts sparkle into A games

Highland Spring, the UK’s leading natural mineral water brand, is sponsoring the England A internationals at Franklin’s Gardens, where all three home matches against France A, Scotland A and Italy A will be played.

This marks their first title sponsorship of a major rugby event and says Joe Beeston, chief executive of Highland Spring Limited, “The A international format is very exciting and we are delighted to associate our brand with this series. International rugby players are ultra-fit professional sportsmen and understand the value of keeping hydrated. The commercial team at Franklin’s Gardens and the RFU were most helpful to us and allowed us to put this deal together quickly and in a professional manner. We look forward to it very much.”

Paul Vaughan, RFU commercial director, said, “We are delighted with the progress that the A internationals have made over the past few years and consider that the sponsorship of the 2003 series by Highland Spring is another step forward in the development of these annual fixtures. Both the competition and Highland Spring will benefit from this new association which promises to be a great success in 2003.”

Highland Spring have also decided to enter into a sponsorship deal with the Saints squad, their logo now appearing on the players’ shirts. Allan Robson, Northampton Saints’ commercial director, said, “Highland Spring has an extensive background of involvement in sport and set very demanding criteria that had to be met before investing in a specific sponsorship. Our agreement with them reflects their confidence in Northampton Saints as a business and following our recent ventures with the Rugby Football Union, is further evidence of the club’s position as a major force in rugby.
