On a bitterly cold December afternoon, Cambridge won the 121st Varsity Match at Twickenham, securing the MMC Trophy by 15 points to 13, their first win since 1998.
Although Oxford had enough ball and openings in the second half to win, Cambridge’s back row were in good form and the light blues managed to end the Oxford run of success. Some 42,000 spectators watched Zimbabwean centre Simon Frost, 24, score two first half tries for Cambridge. Owen Edwards added a conversion and a penalty, while Will Rubie scored the first dark blue try and Kevin Tkachuk added another with a penalty from Matthew Honeyben.
