The second annual Rugby Writers quiz challenge was held at Twickenham Stadium last month with seven assorted teams from the rugby writers, photographers, the BBC and Sky fighting for a £1,000 cheque, which was awarded to the winners’ chosen charity.
A team led by David Hands (The Times) successfully defended their title of last year with Peter Jackson (Daily Mail), Terry Cooper (Freelance), Chris Hewett (Independent) and Steve Bale (Daily Express) all contributing to their winning score in a tightly contested battle.
Sky were, of course, delighted that they finished above the BBC, courtesy of a late flourish in the last round and David Hands and Peter Jackson of the winning team agreed that the £1,000 cheque, kindly provided by Powergen, should go to the former London Irish full back Jarrod Cunningham who announced last year that he has been diagnosed with a life thtreatening form of Motor Neurone disease.
