Following the launch of the ‘Jimmy Peters’ exhibition at the Museum of Rugby the Plymouth Evening Herald ran a feature which appealed for any surviving family members in the area to make themselves known.
It transpired that Jimmy had had two grandchildren - Sue Wavish and Barbara Dunbar - and they both still lived in Plymouth.
Through the Plymouth Herald they were put in touch with Jed Smith, the Museum Curator, who invited the entire family up to Twickenham to see the exhibition. A set of the family from Bristol had also contacted Jed in the meantime, having read about the exhibition in their own local paper. On Saturday 11 October the two halves of the family came together for the first time in over 50 years (pictured).
Jed was able to fill in missing gaps in the story, and the family saw photographs that they never realised existed. They all had a wonderful day at Twickenham as special guests of the Museum before the Plymouth branch of the family headed down the road to see Plymouth Albion play at London Welsh.
