Charity Golf

The Royal Navy Rugby Union held a charity golf day at the Marriott Meon Valley golf resort recently to raise funds for The Wooden Spoon Society which supports handicapped people, particularly youth, in their sporting endeavours.

Several businesses were involved including Continental Tyres, Vauxhall Cars, PTS plastics, SODEXHO, Matra BAe, Lockheed Martin, Thales and an impressive £3000 was raised. In attendance from the world of first class and international rugby to support the day were Rory Underwood, John lnverdale, Grant Champion, Ben Lewitt, Ben Wheeler, James Grindle and Jim Overend from Leicester Tigers. A golf master class was provided by the Camberley club professional golfer Glen Ralph and a black tie dinner in the evening was entertained by England and Lions lock Martin Bayfield.
