Hendon half century

Hendon RFC celebrates its 50th consecutive annual sevens on Sunday 18th April and believes that this must surely be the longest running junior club sevens tournament in the country.

The competition is run in world series format with four pools competing in the round robin stages. The winners, runner-up and third placed teams in each group then go forward to the semi-finals and play off for the main competition, plate and bowl respectively.

Tournament organiser and club fixture secretary Craig Silver says, “The tournament is always well supported and is open to all clubs below the national league structure. We usually hold the competition on the weekend before the qualifying rounds of the Middlesex County Club Sevens and it serves as an excellent warm-up.”

This year Hendon aim to be able to obtain sponsorship so that the winners of each trophy can be presented with a rugby related prize and also to encourage as many past winners as possible to take part in this special occasion.

For further information contact Craig Silver on 020 8952 0806 or 0771 267 7400. Alternatively email silvercd@aol.com.
