Keith consulted on Euro turf

Twickenham Stadium’s Head Groundsman, Keith Kent, has been invited to visit the Aveiro Stadium in Aveiro, Portugal, to offer advice on the playing surface. The ground will be one of the host venues for Euro 2004 and two matches will be played at the stadium.

Keith Kent said, “I was delighted to accept the invitation and visit the stadium. The playing surface was being affected by a recent cold snap with temperatures falling to as low as +2 in the evenings and I was able to offer advice on how to preserve it due to my experience of working in colder conditions in England, at Filbert Street, Old Trafford and now Twickenham.”

Keith was the Head Groundsman at Manchester United during Euro ’96 and the Old Trafford stadium hosted five matches during the tournament. He has been at Twickenham since 2002.

Richard Knight, Keith Kent’s director at Twickenham, said, “It was a huge honour for Keith to be invited to the Aveiro Stadium and we were delighted to help them.”

Stadium staff at Twickenham are available for a full range of stadia consultancy work and can be contacted by calling Sarah Newton, in the Stadium Department, on: 020 8831 7493.
