Dorset & Wilts Cup Final - Swanage & Wareham 23-13 Oakmeadians

The Swans were flying at the finish but for most of the first half the Oaks, making their first appearance in the final, had the six time cup holders on the rack and supporters biting nails. The extra experience in the Swans camp, most having competed at a higher level, came into play, however, to secure another victory.

The elements also played their part and it was the Oaks who had first advantage of the wind, but after the turn around, the Swans played downwind and excellent line kicking from their fly half Andy Smith ensured that the game was played almost entirely inside Oaks’ territory. Tries from full back Chris Leak, flanker James Warren and wing Tim Marshall, with skipper Phil Graves landing two penalties and a conversion, were enough for Swanage and Wareham to claim the trophy for a record seventh time.
