Moseley Rugby Club has welcomed Birmingham City Council’s Development Control Committee decision to grant planning permission for redevelopment of its former ground at the Reddings. The decision will release £1.75 million that the Council and club in partnership will use to upgrade and improve Billesley Common for the benefit of the whole community.
Facilities at Billesley will include a new high quality pitch, temporary clubhouse, stand and hospitality suites, together with the use of five other pitches. Moseley President and former England international Jan Webster said, “For the first time ever, the whole club will be united on one site. The morale at the club has been building all this season, but our future was still uncertain. We can now move forward with renewed confidence.”
The club is this year undertaking a community coaching programme, which will cover over 10,000 children in more than 100 Birmingham schools. More than 200 minis and juniors are also coached and play every Sunday morning. Since leaving the Reddings four years ago, the club has been playing on Birmingham University’s ground at Bournbrook.
