Salisbury Salutes Rudorf

Salisbury Rugby Club’s mini section witnessed the inaugural presentation of the annual Peter Rudorf Memorial on Sunday 14th March.

Peter Rudorf, who died in a diving tragedy last summer aged 25, had been a lifelong member of Salisbury. As with many parents, Simon and Linda’s fondest memories are of Peter’s time in the mini section, which he joined when six years old. So when they decided to present the club with a perpetual trophy, the decision to award it to the mini section was easy.

The 14” high silver cup will be awarded annually to the boy or girl from the entire mini section that is judged to be “the most improved player of the season” as a perpetual memory of Peter’s happy childhood days.

Fittingly, the inaugural award was presented by Peter’s lifelong friend and 1st XV player, Tim Shipsey. Flanked by many of Peter’s friends and team mates, Tim awarded the 2003/4 season award to Finn Drury of the under 9s age group (pictured).
