Next month’s semi finals of the Rugby World National Cup will see a rerun of last year’s final when Saracens take on Clifton at home and will be looking to repeat their nailbiting win. So far this season, Saracens have beaten Clifton 22-17 in February and, in October, Clifton beat Saracens 18-8.
In the other semi, Wasps will be at home and looking to beat Richmond, who have their second team also through to the Rugby World National Shield semis. Back in November, Wasps beat Richmond 23-6 but a rematch was taking place as Touchline went to press. Both semi finals will be played on Sunday 16th May, with home draws for Wasps and Saracens.
The Rugby World National Shield semi finals bring Scunthorpe v Richmond II and Vale of Lune v Folkestone. Both ties to be played Sunday 16th May.
The RFUW Rugby World National Cup and Shield Finals take place on Sunday 23rd May at Broadstreet RFC, together with National Challenge Cup North v South and the National Challenge Shield North v South. The Broadstreet bonanza will be a festival of women’s rugby, bringing finals at every level together. If you want to see all the action arrive around 11am. The Rugby World Cup final kicks off at 3pm.
In advance of finals day, the north cup final promises an exciting Angels of the North v Leicester Stoneygate contest and, in the south, London Welsh battle it out with Olney. The Shield final in the north sees Colne & Nelson take on Loughborough University and in the south it’s Redruth v Trojans. All take place this month with venues and details on the rfuw website.
