A recent Romanian U16 Bucharest Schools Tour was a great success, the boys featuring in national and local newspapers and on IRB TV.
President of the RFU, Robert Horner, and David Carrigy, from the IRB, went to watch their matches and were very taken with the quality of the rugby.
They beat two strong English schools (Pangbourne School 22-5 and Parminster School 21-12) and lost in the third to a last minute try (to Truro School 7-12). They also made an appearance at the Rosslyn Park Sevens.
The boys were hosted by families from Whitgift School and saw all the sights of London, but the highlight of their visit was a dinner held in their honour, at which the Romanian Ambassador was present, hosted by Robert Horner in the Presidential Suite at Twickenham. The boys were a credit to Alex Popescu (tour manager) and Dan Badea (tour coach) both on and off the pitch. Their visit was supported by SOS IRB Kit Aid and Teamlink Tours Ltd.
