QEGS rising stars

Congratulations to the Queen Elizabeth Grammar School, Wakefield’s U13 side who have now gone two seasons unbeaten. Captained by No. 8 Joe Barker, son of the school’s 1st team coach Trevor, they won all 18 games last season as well as lifting the Rosslyn Park Sevens trophy. They conceded just three tries in their 18 games to underline their awesome defence, while their gritty and mobile forwards provided plenty of ball for a back line with vision in midfield and speed on the outsides.

QEGS 1st XV have also enjoyed a successful season winning 14 of their 19 games and using 29 players through the season. Captained by England U16A and U18 Development Squad member and flanker James Smith, three players stood out, England U18 prop Thomas Mieszkowski, centre William Maddock and Yorkshire A fly half Daniel Wood. The 2nd XV also created a school record with 39 different boys turning out for the side.
