Cup runneth over

More than 800 boys and girls took part in the fourth annual Richmond Mini Rugby Festival when the William Webb Ellis Cup helped boost attendance. The event, which took place at Richmond’s Athletic Ground, saw eight different clubs share the honours at six different age groups.

Results were: U7s final draw between Cobham and Teddington; U8s final winners Cobham, losing finalist Teddington; U9s final winners Teddington, losing finalist Cobham; U10s final winners Richmond, losing finalist Market Bosworth; U11s final winners Bishop Stortford, losing finalist Bridgend; U12s final draw between Rosslyn Park and Cobham. The fair play award went to Dursley, who had travelled from Gloucester to participate in the event.

Said Chairman of Richmond’s mini rugby section, Mike Anderson, “Over 800 players took part in the event. This proves the attraction of mini rugby as an enjoyable and safe sport for boys and girls to take part in. We were delighted with the turn out and hope to build on this success for next year.”
