Colchester’s U14s Festival, sponsored by ACRA Leisurewear, was contested by 12 teams from around the Eastern Counties, plus Horsham from Sussex, Hertford and Sidcup from Kent. The standard of rugby from the young players was excellent and the Shield final saw Hertford beat Brentwood 5-0, with the Plate going to Sidcup, who defeated Chelmsford 21-0.

The Trophy final between Romford & Gidea Park and Bury St Edmunds was a great spectacle between with two attacking sides who each had their chances to take the lead, but great defence from both teams which meant there was no score at full time so the two clubs shared the John Motum Trophy (pictured) - a fitting end to a great day’s rugby.
