Road to Success
This year’s Performance Development Academies (PDAs) and the PDA trials provide a clear performance pathway for players and RFUW staff. Since 2000, many players have progressed from club or university rugby through PDAs onto the final talent identification stage, the Super 4s and beyond to representing England. The trials on Saturday June 5th are open to all players eligible to represent England and over the age of 16 from 1st September 2003. Following feedback from players and coaches, the RFUW has modified the trials and academy days and trials assessment will be based on playing ability and physical attributes and will not test specific physical fitness alone. The PDAs themselves will provide quality coaching, developing skills and game understanding To develop the game and players in England and provide maximum opportunity, the RFUW has also increased the number of academies from seven to eight. PDAs take place on: Saturday 19th June, Sat 3rd July, Sat 17th July, Sat 31st July at London & SE1 - Crawley RFC (all dates) London & SE2 - Henley RFC (all dates, not 3rd July - alternative venue tbc) East - Cambridge RFC (all dates, not 5th June - trials at Shelford RFC) SW - TBC West Mids - Droitwich RFC (all dates) North West - Bolton RFC (all dates) East Mids - Derby RFC (all dates) North East - East Durham & Hougall College (all dates) The PDA trial registration form, to be returned to the RFUW, can be downloaded from rfu.com. |
