In association with the Wooden Spoon, rugby’s charity, and DHL International (UK) Ltd, enough shirts, shorts, socks and training tops to equip four teams have been sent out to help develop rugby in Rwanda.
Nick Bunting, the RFU’s Head of Game Investment, said, “We are sending the kit through the British Embassy to help develop rugby in Rwanda. This is a country that is still recovering from an unparalleled tragedy and we hope this small gesture will help the young people in some way.”
Wooden Spoon has distributed £8 million to projects in the last 20 years and National Regional Co-ordinator Tony Richards said, “We support physically, mentally and socially disadvantaged children through a structure of 35 regions. When Nick asked me about the possibility of taking this kit to Rwanda, we felt this was an opportunity both to work more closely with the RFU and help children who need our support all in the name of rugby.” |
