Under 19s in Seventh Heavan

ENGLAND U19 12 WALES U19 0

The England Under U19s recorded their first win against Wales U19 for seven years at the Tesco Young England International at Twickenham Stadium last month. Four penalties, two either side of the break, from Benjamin J. Russell (Northampton Saints & Prince William School) were enough to beat Wales in a scrappy game, which became the victim of heavy rain and strong winds.

Apart from some encouraging runs from England wing Marcel Garvey (Gloucester) in the first half and Wales Number 8, James Malpas (Cardiff) half way through the second period the game never flowed and scoring opportunities were scarce. Wales missed the opportunity to get back into the game with two missed penalties in the first half.

Tosh Askew, Coach of the England U19 side said, “We played to our patterns, which created the penalty scoring opportunities but we were not adventurous enough. However, it’s our first win against Wales U19 for seven years and the result will be a huge boost for the players leading up to their next game against Ireland on February 15th.”
