The England Women’s Under 19s team to face Canada on Wednesday April 4th at RAF Halton, near Aylesbury, has today (Monday) been named.
Head coach Giselle Mather has made 11 changes to the starting XV that defeated the US 31-7 eight days ago.
Gary Street, England Under 19s Programme Manager, said: “There’s been several changes to the starting line-up, but this is purely because we have got a squad of 30 players this season and we want to give them all a chance to prove themselves over the three fixtures we have. By giving every player a go, this will go along way to help their rugby development.”
Worcester’s Laura Keates will once again lead the Under 19s in the first of two fixtures against Canada. The final game against the North Americans will be played at RAF Halton on Easter Sunday, kick-off 2pm. Blaydon’s Francis Matthews, Leicester Forest East’s Emily Scarratt and Richmond’s Lucinda Howland will also start again for England Under 19s.
Street added: “We are predicting Canada to be a stronger outfit than the US after Canada defeated the US comprehensively last weekend. Last year we all won one game and lost another against Canada so we are expecting them to be a tough side who will certainly challenge our developing squad.”
England Under 19s are coached by Mather (head coach) and Dave Manders (assistant coach).
Kick-off for both games is at 2pm.
