England Women Under 19s Head Coach Giselle Mather has made seven changes ahead of Sunday’s second clash against touring Canada at RAF Halton, kick-off 2pm.
Richmond’s Vicky Cornborough, Coalville Ladies’ Robyn Steward, Blaydon’s Kate Hall, Crawley’s Justina de Brett, Worcester’s Helen Price and Clifton’s Meg Youdan will all start for England this time against Canada while Leicester Forest East’s Emily Scarratt moves from fullback to the wing.
The England young-guns will be looking to build on their 29-5 victory against Canada on Wednesday, also at RAF Halton, which saw Scarratt, Marlie Packer, replacement Price and Georgina Crabb also score tries. England Under 19s also defeated the US last month 31-7.
Mather said: “This is our final international of the season so it is a very important fixture for us. The matches haven’t just been about winning, but development also and certainly over the three matches the squad of 30 players will all have played at least half a match. That will be an enormous learning curve for them, but I have to say every one of them has responded brilliantly.
“We do, however, need to make improvements against Canada even though we have already won one test against them. On Wednesday it certainly took us a while to break them down. We also need to improve on our ball retention. Canada too will be working very hard ahead of Sunday and I am sure they’ll be an even stronger outfit.”
