Whoever they do try at fullback needs to be given a decent run of games to settle in and the number one attribute must be solidity both in the tackle and under the high ball .I'm not convinced Cipriani is the right man even if we had an alternative at outside half. I don't think there is any doubt that the new agreement will be beneficial to the England team overall i am sure they will get round the anomalies which have been thrown up but as you say Oldman time will tell

I guess it depends on the games we watch. Presumably Johnson has both under regular scrutiny. My impression is that Abendanon is the better out-and-out attacker but Morgan is the better all-rounder. Of the in-squad contenders Tait is very similar to Abendanon (although I'd sooner see him at 13) and Lewsey is fading out of the picture. Cipriani would be better than any, but if he comes in it must be at 10 with Wilko out.
Incidentally, I see from Saturday's DTel that Will Greenwood shares my concerns about the Agreement, whereas Ackford in the STel believes it gives Johnson much more flexibility. Time will tell.

He must have improved significantly from the game i was at which was against Glasgow he was way off the pace and looked really supect under the high ball ,I've got no axe to grind for Abendanon as my team is Glos but whenever i've seen him play on the box he has looked impressive.

I watched Bath v Gloucester and to my eye Morgan shaded the fullback battle.

It does seem strange that the new agreement which was put together to resolve the club v country issues should throw up the problem we now appear to have at fullback although can't help thinking that due to the attritional nature of the game now that there will be more injuries which will clear the way to get another fulback into the squad For what its worth I'd go with Abendanon at fullback I thought last season he looked the best of the bunch and I saw Morgan play in a preseason game and he looked very suspect

Poor Jonny, poor Johnno! I suspect Johnson hoped that a refreshed and rejuvenated Wilko would recapture his pre-2004 running/passing form (which seemed to have been happening) outside Care, allowing him (Johnson)to concentrate on finding a potent 12/13 combination to exploit this, rather than having to use a 12/13 candidate at 10. He could then consider whether to bring back Cipriani at either 10 or 15 for the 6N.
Now, I suspect, he will try to negotiate an autumn international return for Cipriani at 10. Failing this, Flood is probably the best option. Johnson also has the problem that the form 15s - Morgan and Abendanon - aren't in the squad.
Who'd have thought that the much-lauded club/country accord would have given Johnno selection problems!

Now poor old JW is crocked again who do we turn to for the Autumn series I personally think its to soon for Cipriani to start though I would have him on the bench providing he comes through the next few games for Wasps unscathed . I would go with Flood and play Barkely inside centre which enables them to switch as first receiver any other suggestions other than Flutey at inside centre who hasn't looked that impressive this season.
