How old are you? Your club should be able to coach you, also there are positional pamphlets available from the RFU. Flankers need to be fit, fast and ferocious (alliteration on a rugby site!). First to any breakdown, get in obtain or free the ball and distribute. Also live on, or just beyond the offside line to pressurise the opposition backs (coaching head on), referees (like I am too) will tell you when they see you - which won't be every time. Its probably the most involved position to play, enjoy it.

I have recently taken up the game and would welcome any advice on ways to assist me becoming a flanker
