The Play Offs are my favorite part of the year.

Leeds Exile makes it 5:1 in favour of League Champions being League Champions. I thought that we already had a knock-out cup. The fact that Gloucester knew the rules before they started is irrelevant. The argument is about whether the rules are sensible as illustrated by the farce of Wasps thinking that they are the champions. If you want to have play-offs to generate more income then call the play-offs by a different name, say the Zurich League Plate or something of similar lower standing.

so what if they have been top of the league for most of the season? They knew the rules when the competition started and most clubs seem to able abide by the rules.
What if gloucs had been top until the last weekend of the season? Would you have argued that they deserved it then?
Also, please be aware that it is not the RFU that is creating play offs to generate funds, but Premier Rugby. And I believe that they are creating the playoffs to increase interest until the end of the season.
The only sport in th eworld that does not havbe a play off to decide the champions is Football. Get with it and stop moaning about it - Wasps are the Champions, Gloucs are the runners up.

Gloucester have been top of the league for the majority of the season...and deservedly so. After a long hard season of league, cup, and european rugby, the last thing these players need is more games. Couple that with the current tour down under, which i think is vital preparation, and some players will barely have had time to clean there boots before the world cup. Absolutely ridiculous! No offence to london wasps, but gloucester are champions.......full stop.

Gloucester have won the League Title. Whatever happens in the next week or so will not alter that fact.
If the RFU wants to make some more money (although from the interest in the play-offs this is doubtful) then they should have another competition and they should not pretend that these play-offs have any significance to most followers of the game. A team which gains most points in the league after a long season shows a different ability than one which can knock out a particular team on a particular day.
It is about time that the RFU came to its senses and realised the grass roots opposition to this silly way to end the season. Does anyone think that if a team other than Gloucester wins the final that the team will either be recognised as Zurich Premier Champions or that the team will think they are champions?
Frank (A Tigers supporter who thinks that Gloucester deserves the title they have already won - however we would like it back next season!)

totally agree. Glaws were the best team this year, and Tigers last year.
The cynical might remark that Sale Sharks did really well to drop themselves out of the top three and leave it to teams with larger fan bases and stadia to fight it out for this tacked-on title. ..... In an RWC year no less, hopefully, the International players will all be 'rested' for these farcical games!!!

Does anyone else think the playoffs are a cynical farce? I'm a Northampton fan and as much as I would like to win the league I would not count winning the playoffs as such. Gloucester have won fair and square end of story, end of season. Ridiculous.
