Jaco Ebersohn from South Africa.
I am very glad that Dave wrote to this forum regarding the "fly-by-night" coaches from South Africa.
It is true that in South Africa you can only get a SARU Level II qualification. The SA Coaches claim to have any higher qualification obviously do not know what they are talking about.
These "fly-by-night" coaches give our REAL and properly qualified coaches a bad name in the UK.
Be very careful in appointing any SA Coach. I am also looking at a few coaching options in the UK and have came a cross a few instances where these so called highly qualified SA Coaches have messed up badly.

Hi Dave here from South Africa. Just a note of warning to employers and international clubs.
I noticed some coaches from South Africa are applying for coaching positions in the UK. Some coaches in South Africa are certified with a level one, two or even three coaching certificate through their local Unions. This does not mean that they are SARU / SARFU qualified. The South African Rugby Union only has a Level One and Two. The SARU / SARFU Level One was compiled by Blikkies Groenewald and Rudy Joubert in 2001and the Level Two was compiled by Blikkies Groenewald. First presented in 2003. There is no additional SARU / SARFU level in South Africa.
Make sure that if a coach gives you his credentials and that you ask for his certification. There are not many coaches with a SARU / SARFU level One or Two. There are however many coaches with certificates from their respective Unions. There are Fourteen South African Unions, each with their own agendas and coaching methods and not one of them with the same coaching principals.
Be aware of the coaches certified qualifications.
Rugby Greetings
Dave NRU Level 3 SARFU Level 2 IRB Level 2

Match day CoacHclass is aimed at groups and can range from clubs and schools to birthday party groups. The age range varies from week to week but we generally work with ages between 6 to 17. Specific coaching can be requested by group leaders but most of the time coaches can plan their own sessions focusing on the development of core skills and game understanding.

Hi there
My name is Josh Gloak and I am 17 years old, (will be 18 in 2008). I have played an enormous amount of rugby through my school years playing at A team level throughout. This however came to a standstill early in high school when I tore my ACL in my knee.
Since 2006 I have been coaching rugby for my old junior school, Rondebosch Boys’ Preparatory School in Cape Town, South Africa. I have also been involved in refereeing rugby games at under 19 level and the final of a sevens tournament. I have a level 1 refereeing certificate as well as a level 2 coaching certificate. I will possibly be completing my level 3 in 2008.
For 2 years I have coached the under 10 A team, with a 96% win rate. I will be coaching for another year in 2008. We played 19 matches and we won 18. This includes my team winning the sevens tournament. I am extremely passionate about rugby and it is my goal to one day become an international coach. I have excellent communication and coaching skills.
I feel that I am extremely capable to coach at under 19 level or even higher (mens’ teams or club level). I urge you not to look at my age as a determining factor. In South Africa it is compulsory that one be 18 before taking a level 1 or 2 coaching course, however the union saw my talent and future possibilities and made an exception.
When I finish high school in 2008 I will be taking a gap year in which I wish to travel to another country to coach rugby and gain valuable experience. I am available from the start of December in 2008 to the end of January in 2010. I am applying early now so that I can have close contact with my future team and to sort out where I will be coaching.
References can be provided if needed.
I can be contacted at meanmuscle@gmail.com or on my cellphone, 0837255241.
