Depends also on the state of the pitch. But boots are playingwise, the MOST essential part of your kit.
Fr yr info, international forwards tend to favour 8 studded boots(with long studs) on soft/softish ground, some-times changing to 6 stud boots on harder ground.
International backs preferences vary but many fly-halves/kickers, like Jonny Wilkinson & David Humphries have, I think, preferred a specially made version of Predator Precisions, with studs on the heel & blades on the sole.
A Sevens/15s half-back like Simon Amor prefers World Cup 6 stud boots on moderate surfaces and Copa Mondiale multi-stud moulded boots in the dry.
But ALL these three are also kickers.
Ultimately, if you're a Back, and the kicker, lighter weight boots will probably work best. If not kicking then 6 stud OR 8 stud boots can be almost equally effective.
Like Scrumsrus said, above all, comfort should be the main deciding factor BUT if you want to preserve your feet, you WILL need one pair for muddy conditions & one for hard ground.

From what you said on another forum you play in the backs and therefore that would be a good configuration. Because it provides you with better purchase of the ground when driving forward in contact. As for which boots are the best that is down to personal preference with comfort being paramount. Try on the boots in the shop and run on the spot, keeping on your toes, to what extent can you feel the studs ? ? Is one test you might want to try out, but once you find a type of boot try as much as posible to stick with that kind of boot.
