Question regarding Freekicks
Forum Home > Technical > Question regarding Freekicks

It is not allowed.

Law 21.6
(a) A goal cannot be scored from a free kick.
(b) The team awarded a free kick cannot score a dropped goal until after the ball next becomes dead, or until after an opponent has played or touched it, or has tackled the ball-carrier. This restriction applies also to a scrum taken instead of a free kick.

When sitting in bed watching rugby highlights I was just wondering, when a team gets a freekick they are then given the choice of tapping it, or just kicking. Is it possible to go for a drop goal? I was just wondering as it's never come up, and so I've never been told whether it's legal or illegal in play.
