I still can't agree with any bonus points system, it's inherently unfair. All you have to do is look at the Guinness Premiership table. Gloucester at the top P18 W11 L7 Pts 56. Bath and Sale P18 W12 L6 Pts 55/54 That says it all. How would you feel if your club didn't get a Heineken Cup spot and a team that did had a worse record than you did? Let's say you played Leeds on a foul windy rainy day and only managed to score 3 tries, and the team who qualified for the HC played them on a lovely sunny day and scored 4 tries. Your 3 try victory might have been a great performance in the conditions, whereas the 4 try victory in ideal conditions could have been decidedly average. Well that extra point could be the one!!! I'm fully aware that we'll never get rid of it now, but I'm also aware that it'll never be anything but dreadfully flawed.

Having watch rugby for over 20 years I fully support the idea of bonus points for 4+ tries. I also believe that 4 points for a win is a good idea. However I also think it should be 4 points only (excluding BP for tries) are available in a game!!! If you win by 7 clear points you get 4 points and the losers get 0. If you win buy less than 7 the losing team get 1 point (the same as their normal bonus point) but the winners only get 3 points. It seems unfair that if you draw 12-12 both teams get 2 points however if it is 12-11 the winners gets 4 points the losers only 1 especially if they are the away team. I would be interested in anybody elses views????
