OB - what about 11.3(b)? In general play, an offside player is put onside when the opponents pass?
It's possible that the ELV takes the tackle outside the ambit of general play, and I haven't seen the text itself. If it makes specific provision for the offside player being put back onside, then fine. Otherwise, I see no option but to go with 11.3.

IMHO, yes.
The normal provisions on offside would mean that any players offside when the tackle takes place, remain offside until they put themselves back onside. Ending the tackle does not in itself do that for them cf the situation with rucks and mauls.

If there is an offside line now at the tackle, does that mean if a tackled player offloads out of the tackle (held on ground with one knee for instance) no one from the opposition can touch that pass unless they run from an "onside" position?
This could have implications for offloading...
