Joe, if you keep getting it ask-tell-penalise-then tell the captains Captains next one yellow. You cannot allow it to go on all game.

joe@thurrock : chasing the ball.
try shouting, "play the ball!" (several times if necessary as they approach) - this is a warning that if they don't ie they push each other without shoulder barging (which of course is allowed) then you are likely to penalise.

The Ask-Tell-Penalise sequence is pretty good. A lot depends on the circumstances, and you may need to go straight to Penalise in serious cases.
However make sure you deal with it, since it is a potential flash-point. Include it in your pre-match brief.

I am getting increasing incidents of players tackling off the ball, nothing dangerous but I find it difficult to decide how to penalise the offenders. It basically falls into 2 areas. Chasing a kick where the attacker pushes or pulls the defender before he has hands on and in a ruck where one player pushes the opposition off the ball but continues for 10m!
I usually give PK for obstruction any views on how strict I should be with this?
