Hi Andy,
thanks for the reply, the 75mm dimension is not the TAG but the width of the velcro belt and therefore the size of the velcro on the belt is 50mm x 75mm which is a lot harder to pull off. As far as I can see this is not covered in the continuum. thanks
Simon

Regulation 5(b)(part)states:
5. The Tag:
(b) The standard dimensions for a Tag are 38 cms in length by 5 cms in width although slight variations of a few millimetres should not be cause for concern.

Note: These dimensions and colours are only guidelines to try and achieve uniformity. Mini Tag Rugby games can continue to be played with Tags that do not comply with these guidelines but, for fairness, in such case both teams should be wearing the same design of tag belt and tags.

We had to put this into the regulations a few years ago because diferent sizes were coming in as manufacturers saw a market. 75mm is clearly outside of the "few millimetres" allowed by this regulation.

Fully agree. AT a recent fetsival we saw the 75 tag belts with full width velcro and both the U7 and U8 struggled to remove the tag. A clear advantage to the other team, even more so when teh weather is cold and wet. There needs to be a standard. The continuum does however state that evry player should have a simialr tag belt so perhaps the referees should look at this at teh start of the tournament.

As peviously mentioned in thread - <b>Suggestion for change to Continuum for 2008/9</b> but worthy of it's own thread I think.
I agree about the Tag and Tag Belt specification needs to be standardised our club plays with the Gilbert Style tags and belts given out by the RFU for completing the questionaire in years gone by. We are now finding club with belts up to 3 inches wide and the velcro on the tags is the same width. This at a recent festival required our players had to pull the tags off with both hands which is pretty hard when standing still let alone running. To give our teasm a fair chance do we buy all new belts ? I think that the continuum should not just specify tag size but the belt design too especially the amount of velcro on the TAGs and the width of the belt so that everyone has a fair chance. What would happen if the belts are made even wider - the tags would ever come off.
