Fragile site

just spent ages trying to find the problem with a post that included the phrase "earth-sha£tering"! How can these people allow this rubbish to persist on the www? Don't they see how pathetic it makes their organisation seem?

Personally I have more than one email address, for different purposes. That is not unusual.

"I likewise attended the review phase, and also the specification stage of this development." I think that sort of comment is rather more informative than any particular email address.

A joke that fell flat, perhaps?

Fragile is an understatement, and mails to the webmaster don't elicit any response or action.

Btw - 2 attempts to get to post this already...

Even the survey regarding the ELV's is hit and miss. It bombs a lot of people out at Q6, then tells you that you can't do the survey because you already completed it.

Very very poor.

When they changed the site back in 2005 I went up to London to a funny little office to "review" the site as part of their market research.

I voiced many of the concerns being put about in these forums but in the end it seems that the main site is concerned with promotion and marketing of England, and the community site is a poor relation. Anyone who has visited the HQ offices will notice the difference between the two "offices".

There are some regular posters on these sites who do a great service to the community in terms of disseminating useful information and thoughts on procedure. It would be a great pity if this "fell apart" due to neglect.

My feeling is that it is not the fault of those at the coalface of this interface who have limited resources to improve things.

Newbs - what you describe is certainly Tom Jones for me.

I am constantly surprised at the trouble this site seems to have with simply existing.

The lay-out, design, navigational structure etc. it is all very much cobbled together. The way the site jumps between Community Rugby parts and 'main' RFU stuff (try looking up results etc) is messy.
It seems they created a site and then simply kept adding things and tinkering. Every once so often, a site needs a complete overhaul from scratch. This site is WAAAY overdue such a treatment.

They should have focussed on creating a main website that works and only then should they have tried to create the whole Club section with these all singing, all dancing features that most clubs won't use.

Although it is a little overwhelmingly red and it has some design problems (it looks dreadful), have a look at the site for the Welsh Rugby Union wru.co.uk. it is simple, you can find stuff quickly and logically and is a good start for your search for information about rugby in Wales.

Like a lot of players....fatigued due to a long hard season!

ob Mon, 14 April 08 12:40 GMT

It has recently become fragile - I had to have two go's at opening this thread.

Overloaded server?

Well I am logged in as Wasps68 and I signed in as something different!

Is it just me, or is this the most fragile site on the entire web? As often as not when trying to log in, I get an error message. If I immediately retry I can usually succeed - though I sometimes have to try several times. Many posts fail as well - and its hard to tell whether it's because I've inadvertently used a naughty word that not even a schoolboy would spot in a month of Sundays (e.g. "particular_sessions") or just because the site falls over at the slightest nudge.

What sort of experiences do others have with this site?
